I-India conducts its AIDS awareness activity for children in two ways:

1 – all 1250 children in the Child Inn, Ganga, the Temporary Homes, plus those served by the School on Wheels and Integrated Program for Street Children receive education about HIV/AIDS.

2 – a Targeted Intervention Program educates 500 additional street and slum children in Jaipur who are considered to be at special risk. This project is funded by the Government of India through the Rajasthan State Aids Control Society. (PHASED OUT)

AIDS awareness is conducted by:
  • direct education on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases
  • health camps
  • street plays and puppet shows
  • films and printed literature
  • motivating children to take tests and treatment
    follow-ups

In addition to AIDS awareness amongst children, I-India is involved in the national Kavach project to educate and test truck drivers and truck-stop prostitutes across India. The project is funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through TCI (Transport Corporation of India). (PHASED OUT)
